Mr. Sassman's 4th Grade Class Blog

Read-a-thon sheets were due last week, as well as money collected. WOW!!! We have EXCEEDED our goal for our Twin Bears Camping Excursion. We still have some funds coming in this week, so I will post a final tally on the next blog post. We will use those funds to finish out our year, so please make checks payable to Pearl Creek Elementary or send your student in with the cash they collected. So...

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, EFFORTS, AND ONGOING SUPPORT! I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT PLACE-BASED, EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING, HAVE PROFOUND AND LASTING EFFECTS ON STUDENTS. YOU HAVE ENABLED US TO EXPAND OUR CLASSROOM WALLS AND UTILIZE OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY. FAIRBANKS IS RICH IN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND WE WILL HAVE THE FUNDS FOR SEVERAL FIELD TRIPS TO END OUR AMAZING YEAR TOGETHER!

COMPASSION AND INVOLVEMENT ARE TWO VALUES WE HOLD IN HIGH REGARD HERE AT PEARL CREEK, SO WE WILL PAY IT FORWARD. WE WILL MAKE A CHARITABLE DONATION TO A LOCAL ORGANIZATION HERE IN FAIRBANKS AND GIVE BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY.

WE WILL MAKE UP A LIST AND VOTE!

IDEAS...EMAIL ME!

Also...we spoke about a class party to celebrate our read-a-thon accomplishment if we made our goal. Mrs. Hammer's class (they also reached their goal) and ours will have an after school reward party THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2015 from 5-9 PM. We will use some our funds to purchase hoagies/subs/grinders (whatever you call them), use the gym for an hour, and play a movie for the students. Please be on time when picking up your kiddos! Thanks!

Report Cards went home last Friday!

TESTING THIS WEEK
Our dates are: Tuesday, March 31 (MATH), Wednesday, April 1 (ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS), and Friday, April 3 (SCIENCE). We will have a nice art project to work on in the afternoons of the test days and there will not be homework assigned this week. Please remember that the students should have a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast each morning. These details make a big difference! Please make sure that your kiddos are in school and on time during testing days.
I hope the test covers all of these areas too! Just sayin'!
